Just your average Lord Protector.
I use this blog to talk or post anything that strikes my fancy. So far there really is no long term plan or set structure. If you want me to post about a certain topic, or comment on a certain video, or photo, or article, then feel free to leave a recommendation. I am open to all suggestions, and even though I may come off as a cantankerous and obnoxious blowhard; I’m really not that bad of a cantankerous and obnoxious blowhard.
Oh, and if you want to leave a comment please go ahead, but don’t expect me to be flattered by praise or flusterred by bluster. I know full well that the crowds would cheer as hard for my execution as they would cheer for my exhaltation.
Have a Blessed Day,
Oliver Cromwell
Hey hello (: I always see you on popseoul and i really like the comments you post there. haha.its witty and funny and i always LMAO whenever i see some of them getting all their knickers in a twist over what u said.
i am curious though. are you into kpop? and if so, what are your thoughts on all the girlbands and singers, and what not out there?
Evelyn,
Thanks for your comments, and my apologies for not responding to them sooner.
Am I into K-pop? Yes, I would say that I am, but I approach it with the calm detachment of a critic more so then the exuberance of a fanboy.
My opinions are the same with a lot of critics when it comes to all the boy and girl groups; simply, that there are way, way, way too many of them and many of them have way, way, way too many members. When you flood the market you cheapen the product, and the glut of bands and members means that it’s much harder for the audience to relate to any particular person.
It seems that K-pop has always worked with this “shotgun” method. They’ll shoot out a bunch of stuff hoping some of it sticks.
Anyways, I want to know what you think about K-pop. Are you a fan? If so, then what are your opinions on the current K-pop scene? Do you have favorite groups? Favorite idols? Does G-Dragon need to fire his fashion designer right now?* I want to hear your opinions.
Oh, and if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
Oliver Cromwell
* The answer to the G-Dragon question is “HELL YES!!!”
Hey Oliver, I’m so so sorry I only say this comment like yesterday. So my apologies for the late reply. I’m fascinated with kpop and the people that surround it not from the point of view of a crazy-obsessed fangirl but more of a critic as well.
What got me interested in it probably has to do with my natural curiosity with “why people do the things they do/why do they think this way”. And I seriously could go into lengthy paragraphs about why I feel each girl/boy group isn’t talented enough but still attract so many fans!
I take the point of view of most critics too: there is way, way too many of these groups (you can’t even call them bands cause they don’t play/write their own music). And all of them are almost IDENTICAL, not only in terms of looks but also in terms of the bubblegum trash they produce, as well as most of their limitless talent.
I feel that alot of companies let in the girls especially just mostly based on looks and all of them in the group look identical (SNSD, KARA, BEG, WG,4minute,2NE1) and alot of them are over-rated. seriously. over-rated. And what i find interesting about K-pop is that the image and concept seem so much more important than the vocal quality of the “singers”. When one of these “popular” groups release an MV, it is broken down and analysed, their clothing on performances is analysed. more so than their singing (orlack of it). ive never experienced this kind of thing with western music, cause when i listen to bands like ie: coldplay, i’m way more interested in their song and their vocals than their mv. in kpop though, its 70% packaging and image which tends to get very stupid and superficial after awhile. I’m gonna buy an artiste’s cd simply because I think she/he sings well, not because of how he dresses while on Music Bank or what kinds of mvs they have in relation to the song.
and the fans are alot of the teenybopper kinds who in my honest opinion dont give a shit about good lyrics and vocal prowess and all that musical talent. they are more interested in who is good looking and just listening to what is “in” and “catchy”. its ridiculous! and im sure you’ve seen fan arguments on websites and youtube, its absolutely amusing. it’s like dumb and dumber having a big-ass argument.
ps; random point: do fans not understand that artistes who go onstage have makeup everytime? and who doesnt look good with makeup on? i know i look a helluva lot different with just eyeliner on. if so, why are they always called pretty and sexy and all that? dont the fans realise that its just part of a package, part of a performance? and that these idols have tons of stylists and makeup ppl ard them to make them look good? and once they remove it, its a different story? o.O
pps: im not even gonna get started on the crazies they have in fanclubs: the ELFs, cassies, sones what have you. this is just obsession/craziness brought to an epic level. so now fans can control who their idols are supposed to date and whether they can have gfs/bfs/not? its just plain ridiculous. these idols dont owe anyone a living.
oh and you might wanna check out this website: seoulbeats. the writers are write some good, insightful articles at times and the comments are also mature and pretty insightful – most. a clear distinction from the pervs/ SNSD fans they have at allkpop.
to be contd
oh and i hope to hear ur thoughts!
oh and i would like your opinion on the various girl groups? ya know; snsd, wonder girls, kara, 2ne1, 4minute, brown-eyed girls, after school and whathaveyou.
in particular snsd, wg and kara
Now it’s my turn to apologize again for not responding sooner. For some reason the blog doesn’t notify me when someone gives me a response regarding one of my comments. If you don’t mind, and if you’re even reading this, could you send me your e-mail address? Having an extended conversation on the comments section can get very tedious.
Feel free to e-mail me at eugenedammrod@yahoo.com
I wish I was Oliver Cromwell, unfortunately I’m just Abraham Lincoln

No one rocked a chin beard better then Lincoln. Be proud, friend.
Interesting alias you have here.
Just curious, why choose the pseudonym “Cromwell”, the notorious hypocrite?
Anyway, I find your sense of humor intriguing. Well, I am a Quinten Tarantino fan, what can I say? Anyway, keep posting; it’s a good source of entertainment.
I find Cromwell to be one of the most fascinating figures in history. The more I learn about him, the more intrigued I get.
Thank you for the encouragement.
